Chakkayappam - Sweet Jackfruit Dumplings

In villages, neighbors share fruits, vegetables from their kitchen garden and share food during special occasions. Whenever I visit hometown, my Mom says that  Yam is given by that neighbor  drumstick from this aunt or mangoes from a cousin. Most of the ingredients of dishes made at home will have such contributions from neighbors and friends and of course a lot of their love!
Here at the electronic city of India, I get all from the nearest super market!

This is the story of such a sharing and the hero is a Jack fruit! When it is the season, ladies of the households will start targeting jack fruits  which are getting ripened. Not just them, squirrels, house sparrows and crows will be staying close to it, so that they can start munching it soon. Our maid was eyeing one such fruit at our neighbor's plot!!! Lucky her (may be Me) we got it from the neighbor as a token of love. Suddenly we both got this idea to make Chakkayappam, which she used to make for me during my childhood days. Here is the recipe and a bunch of love for you all!
