My Amma makes most of the fish curries with out a single drop of oil. Well, that's her style and also makes it in the most easy way. However, taste is something that she doesn't comprise on. Here is one such curry with Mathi / Sardines. The oil in the fish is enough to make it tasty and healthy :)
This one is a super quick recipe. Option is to add curry leaves at the end or to use tomato instead of tamarind.

- Sardine - Half kg , Clean , cut the tail and clean the head.
- Grated coconut - half cup
- Garlic - 10 cloves
- Whole Pepper - 20
- Turmeric Powder, Red Chilly Powder - 2 tea spoon each.
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind Extract - Keep aside tamarind in a bowl of water for 15 minutes and squeeze out the juice.
How to Make ?
- Crush garlic and whole pepper.
- Cook Fish in Tamarind Extract ,turmeric powder , red chilly powder and add salt.
- Once Fish is half cooked, add crushed ingredients.
- Wait for the curry to boil and then add grated coconut and keep it to simmer.
- Once the gravy thickens , switch off . The easy Mathi curry is ready :)
