Chutta Kappalandi - Roasted Ground Nuts

This is something that most of us know. However, I just wanted to include it in my blog since I love this a lot! Groundnut frying is a common sight at my kitchen on most of the weekends. This is the only cooking my husband ever does :) We fry enough groundnuts for a week and store it in air tight containers. This forms an excellent nutritious snack and makes us happy while back from work.

Ingredients

  1. Raw groundnut
  2. Salt
How to Make?
  1. Spread out ground nuts on a tray.
  2. Sprinkle salt water on them. Then sprinkle some more salt on it.
  3. Keep this for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Now heat a pan (we don't use oil/ghee).
  5. Once the pan is hot enough, add ground nuts and toss till it turns dark brown and starts cracking.
  6. Spread out the ground nuts on a tray and let it cool down.

Note:

Try not to put too much of salt. If not sure of the amount, try a batch and test it out. The crispiness of the groundnut makes up for less amount of salt and it will be a healthier snack!
