Netholi Mangayittathu - Anchovy with Raw Mango

Anchovy is called  'Netholi' in my language. Though it appears pretty small among all other fish giants in the market, most of of us know that , it is a very tasty fish and an excellent source of calcium. Even my maternal uncle who is a vegetarian  recommends it !!!

Here will share with you my favorite preparation of this fish.
Ingredients

  1. Anchovy - Remove the head and tail and wash well.
  2. Tamarind
  3. Turmeric Powder
  4. Chilly Powder
  5. Salt
  6. Curry Leaves
  7. Fenugreek Powder
  8. Raw Mango - Peel and cut into rectangular pieces.
  9. Coconut Paste

How to Make ?
  1. Extract the tamarind juice. Keep tamarind pieces in water for 15 minutes for getting the juice.
  2. Boil the tamarind juice along with red chilly powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder and salt.
  3. Once this boils, add anchovy and mango pieces and mix it well.
  4. Add some fresh curry leaves and let it get cooked. Keep the flame to medium. Ensure that most of the water content is evaporated.
  5. Once the fish and mango pieces are cooked, add the coconut paste and let it simmer for 5 more minutes.

Your curry is ready, garnish with more curry leaves and serve with hot rice.Enjoy!
