Kappalandi Vevichathu - Boiled Peanuts

Sometimes certain dishes which got introduced to you during travel or festivals will linger on your tongue forever and constantly calls out for a second trial. One such dish is boiled peanuts, which I tasted during a flight from Hyderabad to Chennai. Later I came to know that, it is something commonly available in parks/beaches especially in TN. Here is an effort to recreate that memoir.


Kappalandi Vevichathu

Ingredients

  1. Raw groundnuts -250 gm
  2. Salt - To Taste
  3. Carrot - 1
  4. Big Onion - ½ cup
  5. Tomato - 1
  6. Green chilly - 1
  7. Curry Leaves 
  8. Oil - 1 teaspoon
  9. Mustard Seeds
How to Make?
  1. Boil raw groundnuts along with a pinch of salt.
  2. Heat a pan and add a tea spoon oil, add mustard seeds.
  3. Once the seeds splatter, add curry leaves.
  4. Now, add Sliced Carrot, Sliced Big Onion, Chopped Tomato and Finely Cut green chilly.
  5. Saute well, so that these vegetables are half cooked.
  6. Now add, boiled groundnuts and saute and mix all well.
  7. Once all the masala get mixed with groundnuts, switch off the stove.
Serve this with a hot cuppa and relax with your favorite book/comics :)
