Nellikka Pachadi - Gooseberry with Curd

This recipe is shared by my mom. Since my childhood I see her work restlessly in the kitchen and produce many healthy and taste curries. Most of her recipes are easy to make owing to her working women status.

So here it is a simple curry made out of gooseberry. Goosberry as we all know is very nutritious and an excellent source of iron. The cooking time is very less so that most of the nutrients of this delicious produce can be retained.

Last week my husband surprised me with a bunch of organic gooseberries and here it goes into my dancing wok :)

Ingredients

1. Gooseberries -  3 or 4 , if large or just double it.
2. Grated coconut
3. Green Chillies - 1
4. Curd
5. Small Onions - 5 0r 6.
6. Pinch of Salt
7. Pinch of black pepper.
8. Oil, Mustard and Dry Red chillies for seasoning.

How to Make?

1. Get the flesh of goose berries alone, peel onions, grate coconut and cut green chilly.
2. Grind the ingredients mentioned in Step #1 along with water and salt to a thick consistency.
3. Whisk curd with salt and a bit of water, This should not very loose as well.
4. Heat Kadai and add oil and leave mustard and dry red chillies for splattering :)
5. Now add the grinded mixture from step #2 into the Kadai and add pepper powder. Let it boil.
6. Once it boils, reduce the heat and add the curd mixture.
7. Once curd is added, turn the curry gently with a spoon and wait till small bubbles appear.
8. As soon as it begins to boil, switch off and place the curry in a separate vessel. This is to ensure that curd do not split.

Your curry is ready, now serve this with piping hot rice and enjoy!
